What is Viewpoints?
Viewpoints began with choreographer Mary Overlie's Six Viewpoints in the 1970s. Directors Anne Bogart and Tina Landau adapted it for actors into viewpoints of time (tempo, duration, kinesthetic response, repetition) and space (shape, gesture, architecture, spatial relationship, topography), with vocal viewpoints added. It is an ensemble movement and improvisation practice, not a scene-study method.
